"We, the coaches, believe that competitive swimming is one of the greatest sports in the world.  It fosters in the individual a desire for personal excellence, and a commitment to achieve.  Our role as we see it is to nurture that desire and commitment through programs focused on physical and mental skill development. Overlying all of this, we know that swimming is fun, and that this spirit should be the driving force of everyone's involvement with the sport."

Brenna McDonnell   Head Coach (pma.headcoach@gmail.com)

Hello amazingly ambitious and authentic Aquarians! For those of you that do not know me, my name is Brenna McDonnnell, and I am extremely honoured and excited to be the Head Coach for the upcoming summer swim season! I have recently completed an Honours degree in Psychology with a 2-Year Special Concentration in Forensic Psychology at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. I hope to pursue a Masters degree in Investigative Psychology overseas in the near future. On a swimming related note, I have been involved in summer swimming for the majority of my life and owe a lot to the lessons I have learned and friends I have made because of it. I hope to portray the love I have for the sport to my swimmers and maintain a positive environment that can better motivate and encourage PMA’s swimmers! See you all on deck!

Amanda Wellman   Dive Coach

Hey Aquarians! I’m Amanda, and I’m super excited to be coaching diving this summer! I started swimming and diving with PMA back in 2007. I’ve been coaching diving for the past four years, and this will be my second summer coaching with Port Moody. See you at the pool!

Bart Vanstaalduinen   Swim Coach

Hello PMA, I am so very excited to be back for another summer with such an amazing group of parents, swimmers and coaches. I loved spending the past 2 summers coaching our fantastic Development swimmers and am privileged to be following some of them to the White Group and working with more of our up and coming swimming greats!! I am fully committed to using my coaching experiences from the past 35+ years to support all PMA swimmers in reaching their full potential. I also want to share my passion for swimming and my love of the PMA community with each and every swimmer. I can’t wait to see everyone at the pool!

Meaghan Frenks   Swim Coach

I have swam for over 15 years under Elk Valley Dolphins, Kamloops Classics Swim Club and as a member of the SFU Varsity Swim Team. As a club swimmer I was qualified for both Trials and Senior Nationals and also possessed multiple Western Championship and Age Group Championship qualifying times. As a varsity swimmer I have attended four NCAA Div II Championship meets where I was able to achieve All-American status as well as post multiple SFU records. I have been teaching children and adults how to swim for 6 years in many different capacities, and I am always eager to learn more about the sport of swimming. I currently have AWSI, WSI, NCCP Level 1, Sears I Can Swim and Aquatic Fitness certifications on top of being a fully certified lifeguard. I am excited to coach this summer and plan on making it tons of fun!

Alicia Kan   Swim Coach

Hi Aquarians! My name is Alicia and this will be my second summer coaching for PMA. I am currently in my 4th year studying Criminology at SFU and a member of the SFU varsity swim team. I started summer swimming at the age of 5 and fell in love with the sport. It is great to be part of PMA because of all the positive memories I have of summer swimming. I am looking forward to an amazing season and coaching alongside with an amazing coaching staff.

I can’t wait to see you on deck and can’t wait for the season to start again!

Sam Pedersson   Swim Coach

Hi everyone! This will be my very first season coaching for the Aquarians! I am excited to meet everyone. When I was younger I used to swim for the club, and then I became a lifeguard. I have been guarding and teaching swimming lessons for four years now and absolutely love it. I cannot wait to add coaching to the mix and meet lots of new people and have new swimmers to teach! I am currently attending post secondary and I aspire to be a teacher one day! I look forward to meeting all of you, see you out on the pool deck!

Hey Port Moody! I'm Alex Wellman and I can't want to be coaching with the Aquarians for another season! This season I will be working primarily with the White group, as well as helping out with the Red/Black groups! As well as coaching with PMA, I am also a lifeguard in Port Moody, so I basically live at the pool! I'm very excited to welcome the new families to the club this year, as well as seeing returning faces! Looking forward to another great summer at the pool!
